Berlin,

On 29 April 2026, the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA), under the leadership of its Chairman of the Board Michael Schumann, welcomed Chinese entrepreneur and political representative Ni Haiqiong, CEO of Orient Sundar Group, for an official visit to the BWA Federal Headquarters in Berlin.
The visit took place as a reciprocal visit following a trip by a BWA delegation to Hebei Province last year, during which the delegation visited the headquarters of Orient Sundar Group in Gaobeidian. During the visit, the delegation gained comprehensive insights into the company’s technological, industrial and innovative capabilities.
Ni Haiqiong, a delegate to the 14th National People’s Congress and Vice Chairman of the Hebei Federation of Industry and Commerce, is regarded as one of the prominent figures within China’s green building industry. The Orient Sundar Group he leads is today considered one of China’s leading companies in the fields of energy-efficient window and door systems, passive house technologies and sustainable urban and building development.
Founded in 1988 as a family-owned company, Orient Sundar today employs approximately 6,000 people and operates industrial and research facilities in Hebei and Hainan with a combined area of around 5.5 square kilometres. The company integrates industrial manufacturing, research and development, building design and technological system solutions for sustainable and energy-efficient construction.
For many years, Orient Sundar has been regarded as one of the most visible examples of successful Sino-German industrial and technological cooperation in the green building sector. The company cooperates with more than 200 European partners and maintains long-standing collaboration with German and European companies and institutions in the fields of window technology, building materials, automation and research. The company has earned particular recognition for introducing, further developing and re-innovating passive house systems in China. According to the company, these integrated systems — adapted to different climate zones and building types — can reduce energy consumption by more than 90 percent compared to conventional buildings.
International attention has also been drawn to the “carbon neutral green health building industrial park” developed by Orient Sundar, for which the company invested approximately USD 1 billion. In addition, the company operates what it describes as the only national enterprise technology center in China’s industry sector and a globally unique climate and environmental simulation experimental module for building technologies.
The discussions in Berlin focused on opportunities for intensified cooperation in Germany and Europe, particularly in the fields of passive house technology, sustainable urban infrastructure, energy-efficient buildings as well as modular and intelligent construction concepts.
Particular attention was also given to Orient Sundar’s newly developed concepts in the field of “Green Smart and Healthy Building – Prefabricated Modular House” and “Mobile Green Smart and Healthy Building – Prefabricated Modular House”, which the company intends to introduce more strongly into the European market in the future. These modular and mobile structures combine passive house technology, intelligent control systems, energy-efficient construction methods and advanced green building concepts, representing a new generation of sustainable living and working solutions.
Following the meeting, Michael Schumann stated:
“Orient Sundar represents a new generation of Chinese industrial enterprises that successfully combine technological innovation, industrial scale and sustainable development. Particularly in the field of energy-efficient and resource-saving construction, there is considerable potential for deeper Sino-German cooperation.”
The BWA expressly welcomes Orient Sundar’s growing engagement in Germany and Europe and looks forward to supporting the company with its international network in the further development of partnerships and cooperation projects.
