The Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) held an open and constructive exchange with H.E. Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam.

The discussion focused on how German-Bruneian economic cooperation can be further developed in a practical, investment-oriented and mutually beneficial manner. Particular attention was given to opportunities for capital from Brunei to participate in the development of German companies with strong technologies, industrial competence and international growth potential.

From the BWA’s perspective, such investment partnerships can create added value on both sides. German companies may gain reliable long-term partners for growth and international expansion, while Brunei Darussalam could benefit from projects that contribute to technology transfer, local value creation, qualified employment and the country’s broader economic diversification.

Germany and Brunei Darussalam offer complementary strengths in this regard. Germany stands for industrial depth, innovative medium-sized companies and globally relevant technologies. Brunei Darussalam offers stability, long-term strategic orientation, financial strength and a clear interest in developing new economic sectors beyond oil and gas. Brunei’s Economic Blueprint aims to support the country’s transition toward a dynamic and sustainable economy under Wawasan Brunei 2035.

For the BWA Global Economic Network, this exchange reflects practical economic diplomacy: bringing together capital, technology and trust, and translating good bilateral relations into concrete projects that serve companies, investors and societies alike.

The BWA looks forward to continuing the promising dialogue with partners from Brunei Darussalam and to supporting new bridges between Germany, Brunei and the wider international business community.
